Lead the growth of an agile community that shares, learns and innovates together.

Provide meaningful learning opportunities that are rooted in Product, Lean, Agile and DevOps.

Target and organizations can build, learn, and share their knowledge with each other.

Subject was very relevant, not academic, but practical. Material was tailored to our environment.

Getting executives, leaders, and you peers to buy into new mindsets or an immersive learning experience is extremely hard. They want to hear from other organizations, hear success stories, and what to look out before they agree to such a big change. Make it easier on yourself by allowing Target to do some of that work for you. Bring your executives, leaders, coaches, change agents, and/or partners (finance, human resources, etc.) with you to hear about this unique space and the journey Target has been on.

The Dojo tours provides you an opportunity to come to Target to see, hear, and learn about the first immersive learning environment and Target's journey to a Product, Lean, Agile, and DevOps organization. This is one of the ways Target is giving back to and build upon the community that has helped us create such a great learning environment and culture.

Getting your organization and leadership to think differently about their way of working is really hard. One of the ways that Target started to change their way of thinking was to bring speakers in from external organizations to challenge their way of thinking. Actually hearing stories and seeing examples from other organizations made it more real to Target Team Members and got them excited about the change, and to believe that it was possible.

Target now has our own stories to share and we want to give back to the community that helped us when we were starting our journey. While we still have a long way to go, our hope is that other organizations will learn from successes and failures, and that we can keep sharing and learning together as a community.

Trainings & Workshops

Getting an entire group of people to embrace a new mindset, develop new skills, and change their behaviors is a daunting task. While your changing your organization, how are you going to train all of these people?

Our trainings and workshops are here to make sure your teams and leaders can hit the ground running in their new roles, or as a refresher in their current roles. Our activity-based trainings get you the information you need quickly, while our workshops enable participants to learn while applying the content to your current efforts. Our goal is to prepare everyone to effectively execute in your new operational model.

Target has developed a repository of content over our journey to help training on a variety of topics. While select trainings & workshops are listed, if you do not see something that meets your needs exactly, let us know.

Immersive Learning

Immersive learning experiences are a great alternative to traditional trainings and workshops for skilling-up individuals, but how do you get started with creating an immersive experience? With multiple years of running an immersive learning environment called the Dojo, Target has learned a lot about running successful immersive experiences.

Creating an immersive learning experience requires you to think about many logistical aspects. Do we need a physical space? What materials will we need? How will we manage intake? What skills are required to coach? Rather than trying to figure all this out on your own, let us help you get started on the right path.

Our goal is to skill up your team to become self-sufficient in their learning and coaching. To start a coaching engagement, we would sit down with your team and define the outcomes you are looking for and then build an engagement plan. The focus of the engagement can be on Product, Agile, Software Engineering, or any combination.

Coaching engagements usually start with Target coaches leading, but at the end, your coaches are leading to ensure they have the skills needed. We do not believe in doing long-term staff augmentation with Target coaches. Our goal is to enable your organization to be self-sufficient in your journey towards agility.

Our Philosophy

Throughout Target's journey, the belief has been to build our team up with the skills necessary to own our destiny. For a short while, we did have to augment our staff with external consultants to meet the demand while we skilled up our internal coaches, but we have since eliminated our dependency on external consultants and moved to a completely internal coaching team.

This belief is something we still hold true with our services. Unlike other consulting groups, our goal is not to sell you more services. We want to help your company develop the skills necessary to define your own future. Our coaches will partner with your staff to build the mindsets, skills, and environment necessary to change the way you work.

As Target did within our own journey, our model is not to build a big transformational plan for your organization, implement that plan over several years, and then declare your company as transformed. Our model is about helping you identify the current largest pain point for your organization, provide you with guidance from Target's experiences, but leaving you in the driver's seat to make the decisions you feel are best. From there, observe if those decisions gets the outcome you were looking for and iterate on it. This approach has benefited Target on our journey by allowing us to change our strategy several times and add the most value to Target.

Our Foundational Mindsets

While going through change, it's important to make sure you understand the foundation on which you are building. The Target Dojo has established the PLAiD acronym to represent our four core mindsets that are taught in the Dojo and have been adopted through the organization.

While each of these mindsets could be embraced individually, the combination of them has really been the accelerating factor for Target. Our real-life coaches will train and coach your organization's employees and leaders on these mindsets through a variety of trainings & workshops, immersive learning, or coaching experiences.
